Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior! When Jesus Christ came to this earth 2,000 years ago, He did not come with a goal of being rich and famous.

He came to die for our sins and to be the Savior for all who would believe in Him Jews and non-Jews, men and women, old people and children, people from all 191 countries in the world. He came as the perfect sacrifice for our sins. Jesus Christ did not commit any sins either in thought or in actions, but He was killed on a cross.

Why? He gave Himself to be punished so that we could go free. How does this happen? It is a great mystery why the God of the universe would not just judge us all, but He loves us and gave us a way to become His children. If we confess with our mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in hearts that God has raised Him from the dead, we shall be saved.

So let us worship Jesus each and every day. This time of year we draw close to the celebration of Good Friday, when Jesus died for our sins, and Easter, when He rose from the dead.

So, this week, let us pray that God would

- Help us all to realize how wonderful is the salvation we have in Jesus Christ
- Pour out His Holy Spirit on Houston, Texas and a meeting we are having there
- Protect and bless our staff and volunteers at Global Media Outreach

Bacaan : Lukas 19:1-10

Hampir setiap minggu kita melihat berita-berita tentang misi pencarian dan penyelamatan. Berita ini mungkin tentang seorang anak kecil yang terpisah dari suatu piknik keluarga lalu tersesat, seorang pendaki yang tersesat digunung atau orang-orang yang terperangkap di antara reruntuhan gempa. Dalam setiap kasus, para korban tidak dapat menolong dirinya sendiri. Mereka yang ditemukan dan diselamatkan biasanya sangat berhutang budi pada orang-orang yang tergabung di dalam tim misi pencarian dan penyelamatan tersebut.

Cerita Zakheus dalam Lukas 19:1-10 juga merupakan sebuah kisah pencarian dan penyelamatan. Pada awalnya memang seperti sebuah rentetan peristiwa yang kebetulan terjadi — Yesus sedang melewati Yerikho dan seorang pemungut cukai yang kaya memanjat sebatang pohon agar dapat melihat sekilas sang Guru pembuat mujizat. Namun, pertemuan dengan Yesus ini bukanlah suatu kebetulan.

Pada akhir kisah ini, Lukas sengaja menuliskan perkataan Yesus kepada Zakheus, “Hari ini telah terjadi keselamatan kepada rumah ini … ; Sebab Anak Manusia datang untuk mencari dan menyelamatkan yang hilang” (ay. 9-10).

Yesus memulai misi pencarian dan penyelamatanNya dibumi melalui hidup, kematian dan kebangkitanNya. Yesus masih melanjutkan misi itu sampai hari ini melalui kuasa Roh Kudus. Dan dengan penuh anugrah, Dia mengundang kita supaya mengambil bagian bersama-Nya untuk mengasihi mereka yang tersesat.

Orang tidak dapat percaya Yesus
Jika mereka belum mendengar Injil
Jadi, kita harus menyatakan berita Injil
Kepada dunia — baik di tempat jauh maupun dekat.
